apparently people on buildapcsales are saying that the drive is QLC and DRAMless (it's confusing cause the non pro M470 is TLC with DRAM)

Beggars can't be choosers in these times. If the ssd was $200 alone. It would be sold out within an hour.

Looks to be QLC Dramless, the E27T controller is a cost effective dramless model

All of these things can be bought on the open market right now for about $300 total - I'm going to call it a "meh"

Really? Show us where you can even find the 2tb drive alone for under $299.

Unless u mean used that's impossible. (If you meant used then not everyone wants to buy a power supply and storage used or even liquid coolers)

AI Overview
Yes, the 2TB MSI SPATIUM M470 is built with TLC (Triple-Level Cell) NAND flash and includes a dedicated DRAM cache. [1, 2]
The specific hardware configuration for this drive includes:
  • NAND Type: TLC (provides a great balance of speed and endurance for a consumer drive)
  • DRAM Cache: 2GB DDR4
  • Controller: Phison PS5016-E16 [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Note: Be sure to check the exact box, as newer revisions or the SPATIUM M470 PRO use a different, DRAM-less controller (Phison E27T) which relies on Host Memory Buffer (HMB) instead of physical DRAM. [1, 2]

Yes, the standard 2TB MSI SPATIUM M470 is built with TLC NAND and includes a dedicated DRAM cache. However, it does not use the Phison E27T controller. [1, 2]
The specifications depend heavily on exactly which sub-model you are looking at:
1. MSI SPATIUM M470 (Standard Model)
  • Controller: Phison E16
  • NAND Type: TLC (Kioxia/Toshiba 96-layer)
  • DRAM: Yes, 2GB of DDR4 DRAM
  • Speed: 5000 MB/s Read / 4400 MB/s Write [1, 2]
2. MSI SPATIUM M470 PRO
  • Controller: Phison E27T
  • NAND Type: TLC
  • DRAM: No (It is a DRAM-less drive that uses Host Memory Buffer / HMB)
  • Speed: 7000 MB/s Read / 6800 MB/s Write

I wonder why people are complaining about this drive breing DRAM less, dont use it for operating system, use a smaller cheaper DRAM drive for OS

I was just thinking that there has to be a catch somewhere 😂. I figured it would be QLC, but not DRAMless which should be of no surprise to anyone at this current juncture.
