Good kayak to get started in the sport. Don't forget the pfd/life vest. I also see the 12' WS Pungo on sale at $825. and it's a whole level up in performance, heavier build (rotomold plastic), and very comfortable seating. These have been around for decades and paddle well on most any kinds of water conditions. They do hold their value too. Another mid level kayak similar to the Pungo is the Old Town Dirigo 12' or 14'. I had the Dirigo 12' for about 5 years and then moved to a 16' sea kayak. I wish I had kept the Dirigo as it's an excellent all around kayak. http://www.sportsmans.com/boats-k.../p/1521303

So I'm interested in some kind of Kayak. I'm 220, that's 80% of the 275 here. This would make the boat unstable?

Unless you're hitting heavy chop you'll be fine. This boat would be fine for rivers, creeks, lakes, calm bays and inlets etc. although I always suggest a full sit on top kayak.

Would be fine. A sit on top kayak is best all around though, and easier to flip and won't sink. The one on sale is $300, so a $100 more but I promise in the long term it's absolutely worth it.

Something like this will last a long time and be a better choice.

This kayak listed just gets people on the water. The Pungo is sooo much better.

Not necessarily, but you can have gear. Its a recreational kayak so it's pretty flat on the bottom. It might not be the most comfortable. Im 215. I would paddle it to get in some backwaters, but the ws pungo someone else mentioned would be better. Or get a Wilderness Systems kayak off marketplace. There are other good brands too.

Foot pegs and a butt pad in a 10' kayak at $200 is pretty incredible.

Use it, see if you want to stick with it, then upgrade and sell it for what you paid...

I get that sit-on-top kayaks are more stable and a little easier all around, but for me there's something stable and comforting about sitting down lower in the water. It's mental. Plus the sit-in models just look cooler, less like generic rental models Wink

Sit on tops don't fill with water and sink if you tip....they always float and can be righted.
