Also, the fit is not great. There is no elastic five whatsoever in the pleather headband strip, and I felt like I was about to break them when extending the ear cups from the headband.
Detail is phenomenal on these. With a good recording and something that can properly drive these you'll hear details you may not have notices before. Soundstage is a bit too tight for my liking, but I tend to prefer more separation than most.

The Sundara is an open back planar headphone that stands out for detail, soundstage, and strong value at this price. It sounds neutral to slightly bright, with good bass that is not aimed at bassheads, and it takes equalization very well. Power helps a lot, so an amp or balanced output brings out more of what it can do. The main cautions are a tight fit, a somewhat fragile headband design, and questions about AliExpress authenticity or version differences. A strong pick for listeners who want revealing planar sound and can drive it properly.
The headphones can sound significantly better when driven with an amp and balanced cabling.
The Sundara can take EQ well and still deliver a really good sound at this price level.
The open-back design lets you hear your surroundings instead of blocking outside sound.
The 2020-or-later version reportedly differs mainly in pad thickness rather than major tuning changes.
The headphones can require more power than some setups provide, and insufficient drive may limit loudness.
The coupon code can be unavailable because it may be first-come-first-served and already used up.
The fit can feel uncomfortable because the pleather headband strip reportedly lacks elastic support.
The headband support plastic parts can break after about a year of use.
