I have one of these (the regular Bose version, not the Costco SE version) and also a couple UE Booms. I think I actually like UE Booms better because they seem more feature-rich and I like that the mix is configurable. Bose locks that down.

Curious of other folks' thoughts.

Regardless, this clearance price is great. I do find myself preferring UE despite this great price.

It is a great speaker, but just remember , this one does not have a Microphone. SE stands for special edition, and they seem to have CUT COSTS by eliminating the microphone.

Do you know if it's like the Costco version of the Anker Boom 2, where it cannot pair with the non-Costco Boom 2? Besides the mic, what else is missing?

I think besides microphone, everything is same as non SE version

A price ending in .97 at Costco means the item is marked down on clearance. This indicates that the store manager has specifically reduced the price to clear out remaining inventory, move overstock, or make room for new products. It is often the lowest price you will find for that item

This will only sync with other Gen 2 SE models for Stereo Mode. If you buy this and then months later get the regular Gen 2 flex model at Target, you can only do Party Mode. The only retailers that sell the Gen 2 SE are Sam's Club and Costco. Sam's has not dropped the price and these go for $139. So, I would recommend buying two at Costco if you have plans on using it with two channels rather than just as mono speakers.
