You're very wrong. Nations prosper because of inclusive institutions and fail because of extractive ones but you have to read the book to understand what the authors actually mean.

TY for the savings (attempt/concern) but I think it's more that longterm success breeds feelings of invincibility, then entitlement, which leads to laziness, then corruption.

Note that pre-corrupt governments never reach success to even begin the failure process.

Yep, I do not agree completely with the authors assertion though. The author completely ignores or dismiss other factors such as culture, race, natural resources, education and people's willingness to succeed and/or follow the laws, and uphold justice in society. Here, the author is simply presenting political atmosphere and institutions. What good are institutions if people themselves are ignorant and don't follow laws and justice for all.
