Walmart+ flat tire repair is a free, practical fix for normal passenger tires when the damage is safely repairable, and it can save the $18 to $30 many shops charge. The benefit has worked on tires bought elsewhere, with some locations turning repairs around quickly and others taking much longer. Access depends heavily on the store, since many Walmarts do not have Auto Centers and some locations refuse low profile tires, aftermarket rims, run flats, or tires that are too worn or unsafe. Calling ahead and checking the local shop's rules matters.

  • Drivers with a puncture in the tread area, because Walmart Auto Center can patch repairable flats free even when the tire was bought elsewhere.

  • Walmart+ members needing a nearby emergency fix, because the benefit is available at many Walmart Auto Centers and can be the only open option on Sundays.

  • Owners of ordinary passenger cars with a repairable flat, because the service is offered on normal passenger-vehicle tires and can be completed in under an hour at some locations.

  • Shoppers comparing against paid tire shops, because the free repair can replace a $10 to $30 puncture fix elsewhere.

  • Cars with unsafe damage or tread too close to the sidewall, because Walmart will refuse repairs when the tire cannot be guaranteed safe.

  • Drivers who need predictable turnaround, because some locations have long waits, missed appointments, and slow or inconsistent service.

  • Drivers with low-profile tires or aftermarket wheel setups, because some Walmart locations refuse those installs and may not service the tire at all.

  • Tesla and other EV owners needing quick tire service, because a shop may lack the knowledge to repair the vehicle and send it away after a long wait.

is this patching the inside? I tend to just plug my own instead of spending time and gas going somewhere and waiting for them to do it. i try to keep a plug kit in every car.. and especially make sure i have it on road trips.
Thanks for posting this. Can you put a link to the plug kit you keep in the car. Should be much faster than getting the tire to WMT and waiting

Discount Tire does that for free and it doesn't require a membership
Does Discount include free Paramount+ streaming, gas discounts, no delivery charges from Walmart plus a rash of other benefits? Oh that's right...you get a dirty bathroom, poor scheduling / service and complementary coffee that may or may not have had foreign objects in it.

You have to be a complete moron to take your vehicle to a Walmart service center
Exactly! If you care about your car (and your life!) don't let Walmart touch your car!

Discount tire sucks! I tried getting my tire repaired 5x at different locations and they all said no after trying to up sell me on new tires even for the wrong season. Lol they just to be good for tire repairs
I agree and stopped using them myself. Honestly, I think all of the major tire companies have went the way of the lawyer. They use laser measuring devices to "prove" to you that the tire tread is no longer safe and avoid a lawsuit for fixing a tire that they could be sued over and then present the upsell. I've had several occurrences where I went in and could still see Lincoln's head doing the penny test but they refused to fix the tire or even rotate them for the reasons above. One of the worst purchases I've made has been Sam's Club road hazard. You literally cannot get into one of their shops in an emergency and ironically I was able to walk right into Walmart but had to pay them to plug the tire because they don't accept Sam's Club road hazard. It was a whopping $10 lol.

Just went to American tire yesterday they told me they patch tires, rotate, balance all for free even if you don't purchase the tires through them. Mount and balance new tire on rim with TPMS $28 if you purchased equipment at a different store and have them install

Maybe this is a dumb question, but does this offer include free rotations? That would be a nice perk.

I am a Walmart+ customer that recently bought low profile tires online from Walmart with a 35 aspect ratio at Walmart.com and scheduled appointment at Walmart. They are the factory installed tires on factory rims that match the sticker on the door. One of the main reasons I bought from Walmart, had shipped directly to Walmart, to have installed at Walmart was because Walmart+ customers get free Road Hazard, if bought and installed by Walmart.

Walmart called and said they are to low profile and can't install them. Said to take it to a different, bigger Walmart that could. Went there, they said the same thing.

Was told that they could only install aspect ratio of 40 or higher, that the "machines" they had at Walmart couldn't do a 35 or lower.

So had to cancel install, and throw the tires in the trunk and take them over to Firestone to install them. Which is fine, but now I have no road hazard warranty because Walmart didn't install them, and Firestone won't because not there tire.

Not sure if anyone else had this problem with 35's, but unlikely they will do a flat repair on low profile tires (even if low profile are the factory tires).

Plugs are a "temporary" repair.

They dd you a BIG favor.
Would have damaged your rims.

Should have refunded tires, bought from costco or tireshop.

Yes, I thought the same thing after going to Firestone for the install (which did a great job). Walmart would have cracked the rims.

I usually buy tires from Costco. But my tires were really bad, and Costco takes like 10 days to get the tires in for that car, and Walmart was like 2 days. And since I had the tires in my trunk, and Firestone installed them immediately, didn't return tires to Walmart. Going to do better planning next time.

Properly installed plug lasts for the life of the tire. Been plugging tires since 1987. Zero failure.
