Walmart+ flat tire repair is a free, practical fix for normal passenger tires when the damage is safely repairable, and it can save the $18 to $30 many shops charge. The benefit has worked on tires bought elsewhere, with some locations turning repairs around quickly and others taking much longer. Access depends heavily on the store, since many Walmarts do not have Auto Centers and some locations refuse low profile tires, aftermarket rims, run flats, or tires that are too worn or unsafe. Calling ahead and checking the local shop's rules matters.

  • Walmart Auto Centers can perform flat tire repairs for tires purchased elsewhere without charging for the repair.

  • Walmart Auto Centers may patch tires when the damage is within a safe, repairable range.

  • Walmart Auto Centers can sometimes handle non-Walmart tire situations and still provide service without requiring a purchase from Walmart.

  • Walmart+ flat tire repair can be free at Walmart Auto Centers with no reimbursement process needed.

  • Some Walmart Auto Center visits reportedly complete patching quickly, including cases under about 45 minutes.

  • Walmart Auto Center eligibility can be limited by tire condition, including tread wear that triggers repair denials and upsells.

  • Walmart Auto Centers may refuse service based on wheel or rim constraints such as aftermarket rims or low-profile tire installation limits.

  • Walmart Auto Centers can have long waits and scheduling issues, including refusals for walk-ins when appointments are not scheduled.

  • Walmart Auto Center service quality can include problems like excessive tire balancing weights or incorrect tire pressure after repair.

Discount tire sucks! I tried getting my tire repaired 5x at different locations and they all said no after trying to up sell me on new tires even for the wrong season. Lol they just to be good for tire repairs
Last week my local DT attempted to convince me I needed new tires due to wear. The tires in question are about a year old and have maybe 4000-5000 miles on them on that vehicle. Significant amount of tread left - they look almost new. Not sure if all of Discount Tire train the sales reps that way or if it was specific to this franchise location.

No. It was not a sidewall puncture. Lol I fix my own cars I just don't have a tire mounting device.
We are going blind off of your claim. There is a zone, for some shops it's 1/2" and for other's it's policy that the hole must be at least 1" away from the sidewall or they will not patch. It doesn't need to literally be on the sidewall, just close to it. It's hard to imagine that any reputable shop wouldn't patch your tire unless it was on the sidewall, OR too close to the sidewall. I suppose the third option is that the tread is just so far gone. Legal liability matters.
In any event, that's not a negative on DT and the fact that you work on your own cars doesn't change that. There are plenty of unqualified people who do dangerous things and work on their own cars so telling us that is irrelevant. You also don't need to remove a tire from the rim to insert a plug; so it doesn't sound like you know what you are doing.

you sure on that, I've only seen the benefit at Murphy's Gas at WMT stores listed for PLUS.
in the app, services (at the bottom, next to account), auto services, member prices on fuel (at the bottom)
"Save 10c per gallon a Walmart, Exxon, Mobil & Murphy stations + get member prices on fuel at Sam's Club"

You don't need a tire mounting device to plug tires.

I feel like this is a sponsored thread. Walmart flat repairs are $18.

No, that's not part of the deal.

What kind of tires are eligible for this benefit?

This benefit applies only to tires used on passenger cars, light trucks, minivans, small RVs & crossovers.
I do not see SUV in your "included" list of vehicles. Maybe they are considered as light trucks? Seems like a big segment being excluded if they are not qualified. Anyone know for sure?

If 5 of them told you no it's almost certainly not safe for a patch and plug

Crossovers likely covers it, they have mini vans and light trucks, can't imagine SUV's would be excluded.

After having been around the Walmart Auto Centers enough buying batteries and such, having to wait to be served, I can tell you that the people that work at these shops HATE to do work. They will find any reason to avoid work. I would not trust them. They denied a lady for having an Alfa Romeo and then denied another lady because she had an electronic dip stick so they couldn't do an oil change. Totally horrible service.
