This bristle free grill brush is aimed at safer grill cleaning, especially for anyone trying to avoid loose metal bristles in food. The design gets credit for not shedding material, and one long term use report says it has held up well on a Big Green Egg for a year. The main drawback is cleaning power, since the spring style and chain link style head is described as less effective than a standard wire brush. There are also concerns about the sponges under the head needing to stay wet and about replacement parts not being sold separately, making it a practical but imperfect option.

  • Grill owners avoiding wire bristles, because the bristle-free design can clean without losing material.

  • People who want a safer alternative to wire brushes, because the bristle-free design avoids the bristle danger they are trying to eliminate.

  • Owners of stainless steel grates, because the brush can be used with a fine mist of water and repeated passes to clean them.

  • Grill cooks who want wire-brush cleaning power, because spring-style bristle-free brushes do not clean nearly as well as a standard wire brush.

  • People who need a long-lasting scraper, because the scraper wire can come off and the plastic portion may need replacement.

  • Anyone expecting a simple, low-maintenance grill tool, because the sponges under the chain link must stay wet or they can melt.

Haven't used this one yet but been looking for a non-wire brush for cleaning the grill so I'll give it a shot. Wish I could afford that Smarter Every Day one 😓

Which style do you have? The ones linked look pretty different from each other.

I've had both and they just aren't as effective as bristles - it's basically rubbing a mini-chain link fence on your grill, it has rounded metal edges that just don't cut in as well.

Please only use wood scrapers. A Pediatrician told me about how often she sees steel shards and it shocked me. I haven't used a steel scraper since.

I've moved to wood scrapers. Buy like a 10 pack of wooden spoons at walmart and I'm not even through the first one. Cut it flat at the end if you need to. Overtime it will develop a groove. It can be the bamboo set. Extremely cheap. Very safe. When you buy the 10pk it comes out cheap like $1 ea.
