I've moved to wood scrapers. Buy like a 10 pack of wooden spoons at walmart and I'm not even through the first one. Cut it flat at the end if you need to. Overtime it will develop a groove. It can be the bamboo set. Extremely cheap. Very safe. When you buy the 10pk it comes out cheap like $1 ea.
I'm a little retarded, can you clarify in more detail?

i'll weigh in on the one you mention here, smartereveryday, which sells on JJGeorge website
i've been using it for a year and it's still working well for me on my big green egg. previously i was buying a new 15 dollar grill brush every 3-6 months to minimize risk of bristles getting into food. so in that sense i'm not any more out of pocket cost after a year but i would expect this to continue to meet my needs for several years. i do wish they sold replacement parts separately in case the plastic portion needs to be replaced at some point. 10/10.

Just use a wooden spoon to scrape the grill grate. It does it clean and you'll never have accidental metal needles left behind. You can google about this for pictures or examples. They last a long time, they're cheap.

Wiping the grill down with a moistened paper towel really cuts back on any risk from bristle-style scrapers, and leave a nice shiny surface for the next grill sesh..

I don't want any bristles in my food either, but there's just no equivalent replacement for wire bristles. Not a ball of foil. Not an onion. I just got one of those aramid pads and they suck as well. After it dies I'll probably go back to a wire brush and just double checking the grill before putting food down.

Haven't used this one yet but been looking for a non-wire brush for cleaning the grill so I'll give it a shot. Wish I could afford that Smarter Every Day one 😓
