This VEVOR 4 channel Class D amp looks like a strong budget car audio upgrade, with plenty of power for the price and a compact footprint. It is described as good value, capable of roughly 70 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and suitable for adding speakers or improving an older car system. The main knocks are that it is not the cleanest at full volume and long term durability may be limited by cheaper internal parts. It also brings wiring and installation costs, so it works best for a simple car setup with some DIY comfort.

  • The amplifier can add extra speakers while the car's existing amplifier continues powering the current speakers.

  • The amp can be powered from the car battery or alternator using a dedicated 12-gauge wire and inline fuse.

  • The output stage can drive up to four 4-ohm speakers at roughly 70 watts per channel.

  • The power-to-cost value can feel strong for a small, low-cost Class D amplifier.

  • The amplifier may sacrifice long-term durability because cheap capacitors are used to hit the price.

  • The amplifier is not the cleanest option at full volume, which can affect perceived audio quality.

  • The amp's dyno-style power numbers do not guarantee audio quality, since internal components and design influence real-world sound.

  • Using the amp in an older car can require an amp kit and RCA connection work, which can add hidden costs and complexity.

Never used these before. Can someone explain how these work? Do these replace an amplifier in the car and attach to the car speakers? Or how is this used? Can it be used for anything else?
If you're thinking about someone else and just seeing if they can upgrade the sound in an old car for cheap, it's not that cheap or simple.

You'd have to buy an amp kit to power the amplifier, install the amp kit, and find a way to connect the amp to the stereo. If it's a stock stereo, it might not have RCA outputs and will require either a converter or new head unit.

Car Audio shops charge a ton to install these days. So if your friend or family member doesn't know how to do any of that or have a friend that does, it's probably a pass.

I think most people these days for a cheap old car would go with one of those bluetooth adapters you can play phone off the radio. I have one of those, it connects well, but the sound quality is below average/bad. https://www.amazon.com/LENCENT-Transmitter-Bluetooth-Wireless-Charging/dp/B07VFT4D6B/ref=sr_1_1_sspa... Otherwise, a new car stereo/head unit, plus a cheap set of speakers for $25 actually does make a noticeable difference, and will allow you to connect a phone to a car more cleanly. Parts will probably cost around $100.
