Wondering if this allows for printing a PDF of a shipping label? I usually use pirateship.com for discount shipping and they supply a PDF to print out the label.

Yes it does! Alternatively you can open the PDF in your phone and print from there too.

I have some of their smaller printers, app is only good for like a year and it makes you subscribe to print anything on your purchased printer.

(Maybe this one doesn't do that subscription bs, but Im weary of this company now)

You can still utilize this printer without the subscription.

UPS will give free 1/2 page shipping labels you can run through your laser printer. Or the clear adhesive pouches to put in an inkjet printed label. Just log into UPS directly and 'order supplies'. I use Pirate Ship too

I went with the Brother thermal label printer, as I'm tired of these cheap ones only lasting a year or so. If you are only needing 40-50 labels a month its fine, but if you have high volume Ebay sales like I do, you really need a more commercial machine.

Back when I was a young person in IT, I always wondered why enterprise/commercial stuff was expensive. The above statement is why. Unfortunately, working with government budgets, people still attempt to cheap out on things...

Is an app necessary to print?

Is this a good brand for personal label makers? Saw one on woot. Had a brother about 8 years ago, which has easy tape replacements, that my kid dropped and broke.

Saw some place that many of these brands require to buy only their branded tape thanks to some RFID

Buyer beware. These printers don't support wi-fi. The higher end units do but the coupon code doesn't work on those models.

I don't ship for Ebay, I ship for work. An outdated zebra printer and labels has been full proof
