Cool read when 17. Does not hold up at all.

the physical cover of the book has this odd matte, rubbery finish that will not wear well with time. i can tell from the abrasion marks it came with when shipped from amazon.

I bought the first trilogy a few weeks ago, I had never read the series. The book was big and amazon packed it wrong with some canned goods (which I didn't order together), and the pages ended up being squished and I had to return it.

I read all these books many years ago. I did enjoy them as a kid.

These are not the best of the series. Only the first three are actually solid books.

I loved these books as a kid, and they mostly hold up for me.

You probably like the later Dune books more than the first.
If I remember these books, it's fat warrior brother and weird eyes in a tower brother. it has been 30+ years. I did reread the first trilogy a few years ago, and it was passable, just a funly written LOTR sidequest.

The plot focuses on Raistlin's quest for ultimate power and godhood, and Caramon's desperate battle to stop him and save his brother's soul.

I read these multiple times as a teen. 30 years later, and I read these and the first trilogy over again. I forgot a LOT of the story, but enjoyed them. There are some quirks in the authors' writing, but they are overall good books.

It starts with Camaron being out of shape and drunk then getting thrown into arena combat and getting back into shape, right? I didn't hate the books, but it was enough to turn me off the series that I loved as a kid. I don't know how old I was when I read them. Maybe a tween. Maybe a low teen. There was much better stuff available, so I read that instead, and no, not Robert Jordan. Oh hells no.
