Old Town makes great Kayaks.

I've had my first fishing kayak the Old Town PDL 106 (the pedal version of this kayak) for about a year, and taken it out maybe a dozen times (all lakes, no rivers or oceans). It's extremely stable and a joy to be in on the water. It's customizable with aftermarket accessories, which is great if you're a tinkerer, but an expensive rabbit hole to find yourself down. -- The only downside I'd have to point out is weight. I put it on a sturdy roof rack on top of a compact coupe but raising it up there requires a bit of ingenuity (there are YouTube videos with some tips) and being still physically capable is the success factor.

In short, I'm sure having a motor like this one has is convenient. But I can surely attest that the hull is a great design, if you like kayak fishing. I sincerely doubt you'll be disappointed by going with one of the Old Town 106 models.

If this was the auto pilot version I would be in trouble. This version is NOT the spot lock version. That feature is the #1 feature for fishing.

The 106 doesn't come with a spot lock version. The 12 and 13 foot versions do.

Dude.. i literally JUST purchased this back in April for full price. WTF?!
Amazing kayak tho. Definitely worth it at this price. Keep in mind you also need a battery and you might need to register it with the DMV since it's classified as a motorized vehicle.

EDIT - actually just got $600 credited back to my card. Thanks Amazon!

mine gets up to 4-5knots in the bay. 3.5-4 knots max when the current is strong. You arent going to win any speed races but it's quick enough to go from point a to point b and WAY better than paddling or peddling in my opinion.

100% on this. This thing IS heavy but i am able to get it on my roof rack with relative ease (i'm 48). Super stable in the water. Can stand easily, even in Mission Bay, San Diego. Absolutely love this thing. Just be prepared to spend another couple hundred on a decent lithium battery, charger, dmv fees, and other kayak accessories. But this yak rocks!

Wish I had the space to store this, roof racks on either of my vehicles and no missing ACL in my left knee... otherwise I would probably be all over this lol

How does this compare to pdl version? Is it as hands free as pdl?
