Avoid this tool. It has no power and will stall on even the most basic cutting tasks because it is 12v and uses a brushed motor.

I've owned this for years and it does neither of what you describe. Even using a 2.0 Ah Red Lithium battery it has sufficient power and no stalling when using a "12 pruning blade to cut through thick Bird of Paradise tree branches. It's best paired with an XC battery though for best results.
