Can anyone share experience with these?

Need an ice maker for the garage and been looking at these units.

I've heard they're not great because the insulation in the holding bin isn't good so the ice melts quickly and you're basically paying electricity money to constantly make ice that melts away.

It says it has 30 lbs of storage, despite the 130 lbs per 24 hours capability....so if you live somewhere it gets warmer, and won't be using the 30 lbs, my guess is it will melt and just reuse the water to make new pieces of ice.

Not sure which would be costlier...keeping it cold with the same ice in the storage bin, or just keeping the thing remaking ice that keeps melting. I have family members that have some of the countertop ice makers, but they can't make anywhere near this much ice in the same timespan, and the cubes are small enough that they also melt fairly quickly, even with those units indoors.

No they don't reuse the water to make new ice, it gets pumped out and new water brought in.

I went ahead and ordered one, for this cheap with a built in drain pump it's worth a gamble.

Looks like most places online charge $270 for this so this is a good deal. Dont expect serious longevity out of these units. A lot of these cheaply made Chinese "commercial" units aren't quite ready for real heavy duty use. Avantco comes to mind (they typically last 3-5 years in our restaurants even with maintenance contracts).

Strange that I thought Vevor was a company making label printers...

usually that is by design so that you don't need an ice pick to break it apart when they stick together

I have a similar one from another company and it has had a lot of issues over the last 3-4 years. I may just replace it with this one because the other one constantly errors.
