The device relies on built-in smart technology that uses an RFID/NFC chip located on each official label roll to automatically recognize paper types, sizes, and calibrate properly. Using unbranded or generic labels without this chip will result in printing errors or prevent the machine from functioning.

Is there a way to move the chip from the original roll to the generic roll?

its doable, but its a hit or miss - even after moving the RFID sticker, i find its a bit fussy at times, everything with label has to match the info the RFID tag, else the software on the phone shows things differently (eg: color of the label, height etc) -- can be a bit of pain with aligment etc.. if the size is not exactly the same.

I do have this and the larger label maker they make and like them but the labels can get kind of pricey. I feel like it is almost cheaper to buy the entire until like this sometimes in stead of buying new lables

Basically every brands are hit or miss with generic label refills. I have Brother Ptouch that uses the TZe refills and a Brady BMP21. Once in a while the 3rd party refills for either one of them messes up and ends up getting trashed. Most of the issue is the labels bunches up when it is trying to come out of the machine because it doesnt aligned properly.

I have a different one but same idea. The original labels have a sticker in the center with a code. I just peeled the sticker off and put it on whatever roll I want.

idk about in this model, but in B2 stickers, app keep count of the labels, so you cant just reusing old label stickers when one roll is consumed

That's a good idea. I'll try that but I've been buying rolls off Temu and rolling them into the nimbot roll. Yea a pain but I have more time than money so there's that 🤷🏻 ♀️
