How does the return of the batteries and charger work? If you buy this, you only have one receipt? Return without the receipt?

This doesn't work with the OP listing, but does work with the listing I posted.
The way the hackable/returnable works is that you choose the battery set and there's a section called "Free Gift with Purchase" where you can choose an eligible tool, e.g. stick vacuum. When you add both items to cart, it will show up as 2 line items in your cart and on your receipt. You will then receive the tool and battery set in 2 separate packages as they're not a bundled set. You can then return the item that you don't want to keep. Another option is you can set the in-store pickup/delivery of the item you don't want to a different store and they will eventually cancel that part of you order if it's not picked up.

So the discount will be split evenly between the items then? It probably won't worth it unless the original battery pack is cheap enough.

Its a great deal. I was skepticle at first but this vacuum is one of the most used tools around the house as its small and batteries are swappable easily. Suction is great and the power brush and tokls work vey we. We hardly use the dyson anymore.

This has been a common thing for Home Depot for years. They only recently started banning people who do it alot in the past year or two. I did it once a few years ago but every deal I've gotten since around post-pandepic has included all stuff I wanted so I haven't used the hack in about 5 years. I agree this hack method isn't a great thing to take advantage of from a moral perspective, but if HD really didn't want anyone doing it, all they would have to do is change the way their combo deals work on their website so this wasn't possible anymore. It takes a programmer 1 day to change it. This hack has been a known thing for many years so clearly HD isn't too concerned about people still doing it.

They sell ryobi battery holders for Dyson. When my v8 died rather than another Dyson battery I got the adapter for $20. Now I can swap ryobi batteries rather than recharge and wait. Some 3rd party 'for ryobi" batteries don't hold well in the adapter though, dropped on my foot. 😳
