x2 elite laptops are unlike previous windows on arm. These have MacBook level performance at MacBook level power draw. It also had MacBook level pricing, but coming down in price now.

I would agree. The newly announced Nvidia spark based laptops is going to reset the benchmark on windows on arm performance. I don't think x2 elite is in that ballpark, especially on graphics and LLM, so it may go down further. Just to be sure: they haven't announced pricing on spark laptops. I hope they don't start at 2k.

I read somewhere that they Microsoft Laptops would start at 3.5k. Hopefully not true.

You sound knowledgeable. I just ordered a Lenovo yoga 9i pro with 285h and rtx 5050 for 1400. Was that a mistake? Just in need

Nobody will buy a 3K laptop to run agents when google does all on cloud very efficiently. Also nobody should buy an ARM windows. Also nobody should pay more then $400 for an ARM laptop.. Jensen's dream of ppl running opensource llm locally is close to dead. To run agents all u need is a 5 year old laptop and talk to Cloud. Gemini api is so cheap they will kill all open source and other expensive llms.. So, dont buy a ARM laptop unless u are complete noob on x86 vs arm bcoz x86 chips etc are now better than arm in battery and power

My 2c
So many things wrong, and so many assumptions in one response!

It does like this (or spark laptops) is not your cup of tea, and likely for many others. But I can think of many (including myself) using this or spark. I am not going to buy a $3K spark laptop, because that wont be a value for money for me personally, but if it comes out at $2k with 64GB RAM, I would absolutely consider it a steal - for me.

I do SW development and I have Gemini AI Pro subscription. I use Gemini AND local models for coding. There are many other scenarios too. You may not see a need, but there are lots of people doing this.

Have you used an Windows on ARM recently? You don't need to be a noob on x86 to use it. While it has its weaknesses, it also has many strengths. Its weaknesses get a lot of press from some people because one of their legacy app cant run on it, or because they cant run their favorite game at 8k and gazillion hertz. I agree its not a good choice for those, but for a lot of others who keep an open mind - it is absolutely a great choice.

It depends on what your goals are, really.

I don't know about that specific Yoga laptop, and you didnt mention the whole configuration but based on what you did mention, it wont have anywhere as much run time on battery as this one. If you are into local LLM, it depends on the models you want to run. This can run far larger/smarter models (say 30B-ish parameter models with quantization) compared to Yoga 9i . But if you are using a smaller model (<8B with quantization), Yoga will smoke this laptop. If you are into gaming, Yoga is almost certainly far better. I think Yoga models come with stylus, if you are into that.

The 16gb version of this laptop was on sale for $600 a couple months ago. Kick myself for not snagging one.
