Have you used an Windows on ARM recently? You don't need to be a noob on x86 to use it. While it has its weaknesses, it also has many strengths. Its weaknesses get a lot of press from some people because one of their legacy app cant run on it, or because they cant run their favorite game at 8k and gazillion hertz. I agree its not a good choice for those, but for a lot of others who keep an open mind - it is absolutely a great choice.

Google Antigravity,, I do a lot more and I do it on a 6 year old Thinkpad with 16GB of memory.... Heck it runs so better on my $400 M4 16Gb Macmini... Im sure you know Antigravity doesn't work properly on Arm and has bugh Google doesn't like to fix bcoz they think nobody cares.. Local models for coding ?? which ones and whatz the point bcoz they cant stand in front of frontline LLMs unless you are building some mickeymouse webpages.. AI studio now uses antigravity all on cloud efficiently..
The newer Intel and AMD chips with better battery performance essentially killed Arm on laptops.. Actually u can get a 32GB Intel Ultra 2 15 inch Yogi 7i aura for $800 these days, why pay 2X for some Arm laptop...
Just wait til they release $400 googlebook where you pretty much can do all the coding locally for a fraction of the price..
I'm not saying there are users for these Arm laptops, there certainly are but not the smart ones and I have yet to see a compelling reason to buy one for that price when x86 chips are equal or better and not have to worry about compatibility. The last thing is you take this laptop on a travel and you figure out something you really needed doesn;t work.. LOL

Your argument is quite literally one: You can run better models with Google's servers if you pay them monthly. And you say nobody has a reason to stay local. I agree(d) on the first point, and disagree(d) on the second. Let's move on.

Got an absolute steal on a ARM64 Surface Laptop 7 ($800 for brand new Elite/32Gb/1TB/W11P) and I am already frustrated by the snapdragon compatibility... and I fully knew all of this prior to purchasing, and would consider myself an advanced user. So yeah, it's absolutely fast as hell, but it seems like there's always some small annoying issue that doesn't happen in x86 (like missing options from the right-click menu on some software). But again, I will say the battery life is amazing and native apps are insanely fast.

It's a catch-22 situation. In order for companies to support ARM, enough people need to buy ARM or at least MS and Snapdragon need to "bribe" software and hardware companies to update their support for it. Otherwise, a great technology (like Apple Silicon" will die on the vine.
