Hotline Miami stands out as a fast top down shooter that also plays like a puzzle game, with a soundtrack that alone makes it memorable. CARRION gets praised as a fun, unusual game that is easy to finish, and Loop Hero, Pacific Drive, Dredge, and Broforce all come up as solid or highly entertaining picks. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is described as a modern action game with a pseudo turn based feel, striking graphics, and enough depth to keep players busy for years, though the combat timing can feel awkward and the remake lands best with some original FF7 context.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. It uses action combat with accumulated action counters that create a pseudo turn-based feel, so it still works well from a modern perspective without nostalgia. The graphics are also described as phenomenal, though some lighting and combat timing can feel a bit off.

  • CARRION is described as a fun, super cool game that can be compelling enough to finish more than once. It is also recommended as a good pickup if you have not played it yet.

  • Hotline Miami is praised as a top-down shooter that also feels like a puzzle game, and its soundtrack alone is considered a strong reason to buy it. That makes it an easy pick if you like fast, replayable action with memorable music.

  • Yes. The Steam bundle for both FFVII remake games is listed at $32 and saves a couple dollars versus buying them separately.

  • Playing the original first can make the remake hit harder, especially for the story and emotional impact. The PC version can also be enhanced with the 7th Heaven mod manager for better visuals and quality-of-life improvements.

Does Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade play like a modern game? I never played the original so I wouldn't be playing it through any nostalgia goggles. Wondering if it'll still be fun from a modern perspective.
Very much so and it's visually stunning. I was skeptical about the new battle system and wished that they would at least release the original with a new graphical skin (still do), but it really grew on me. I was finding it frustrating and difficult in some areas until I realized that I wasn't maximizing my damage and strategy because I wasn't switching characters enough. Once I realized my error, things clicked and I got into the flow. The training bits never explicitly say you *should* switch characters often, so I foolishly didn't bother much for about a third of my first play through.

They took out some materia mechanics and options while adding a bunch of completely new materia, so that's fun to discover.

I would still suggest playing the original. If you buy it on pc, you can download 7th Heaven mod manager and improve many visuals and quality of life features to make this 1997 classic look my like a modern indie jrpg. I strongly suggest to experience the original before the remake to get the full impact of just how deep and beautiful the remake is, but still have the feels and exhilaration from the original presentation.

I bought the combo and started another playthrough (first was on ps4) of remake and it still gave me the chills with the anticipation of experiencing this gorgeous game once again.

Broforce is a ton of fun. After playing it originally, my friends and I starting "bro-ing" each other's names.

Without playing the original you STILL don't get it. The remake is worse
I'll replay the original 3 times before I'll ever load up the remakes.

is Red Dead Redemption & Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle $39 a good deal?
I would love to be able to play them for the first time again. As far as value, you could honestly put 100s of hours into both games and not finish them.
The story is fantastic and there's a few scenes/quests that are simply the best in gaming.
