☝️. More power and a deeper ecosystem if you stay with the 20v. Way more options than 12v. This is a solid, versatile drill driver

I would go with this as Dewalt's 12v line is being discontinued.

If you are serious about the need for something from Dewalt to drive small screws, then the DCF601 is about the only DeWalt tool purpose built for it. The 12 volt batteries will be available for years to come. If you have 20V DeWalt tools, at least you can use the same charger.

The DCD794 is a compromise because it's, a little larger, heavier and requires a hex adapter if you want to swap bits on the fly. I use a DCD800 with 1.7Ah Powerstack batteries and a short hex adapter for all of my small stuff and it works fine for me but there are many times when I just grab an old Craftsman manual driver with the bits stored in the handle.

if you just want a small DeWalt drill that can drive screws well, pick anything that you like in 20V and use a smaller battery.

The drill is quite compact and quite powerful. Unfortunately, this particular model (DCD794) often has a problem with the switch, causing it to simply go the wrong direction from time to time (like once every 4-10 times you press the trigger). That may not sound like a big deal, but when you're bracing for the drill to remove a screw and it suddenly cranks the wrong way, it can about rip out of your hand and at other times it can strip out the hole because it's cranking farther in instead of out. The opposite happens, too, like you're putting screws into something and it suddenly removes the screw. I had DeWalt fix mine under warranty and now it does it once every dozen times instead of every half-dozen. I can't recommend this otherwise great drill to anyone.
