The passive route would be the PSB Alpha P3 for $350/pr with a Wiim streaming amp for another $300 --- you actually get superior functionality/connectivity plus device independence. Meaning, instead of having the internal amp in powered speakers crapping out on you in a few years leaving you with a pair of expensive doorstops, you can very easily and cheaply replace an external amp and keep the passive speakers.
PSB generally puts out good speakers but these are simply not worth $1500.
I think $900 would be a good spot to land at regular retail with sales hitting lower T say $700 and refurbs maybe $500-700.
Who knows though, inflation has hit and will hit harder soon.
