have you tried reseting the wireless and plugging in your phone to one of the usb ports and seeing if it still pops up? What if you wanted to hotspot off your phone while using AA - wireless would prevent that.

Wired doesn't work, tried every usb port.

Even bought an old iphone but since wireless carplay requires wifi, I couldn't simultaneously use it with the hotspot on my Android phone via wifi or bluetooth.

The only current solutions are to spend $400 on a separate MMI box and a complexish installation or switch to iPhone.

Got it today. Works pretty well. The unit itself connects via Apple CarPlay and then you can open up Android Auto from there. I wish there was a way for it to boot straight to Android Auto and save me a click. I tried switching it to Android Auto "mode" and it connects, it just takes longer. And I still have to select Android Auto from the home screen to boot it up.
That said, I tried the YouTube app and it worked, just pretty sluggish. The box did get a bit hot from setting it up and using it a bit, hope it doesn't get hotter than that.
Does anyone know if there's a way to get it to boot straight to Android Auto? If not I think I may just keep using my Motorola dongle.

I'm able to access the android auto but how do you guys get YouTube and other apps to work?

It states no internet connection, even when it's connected to the phone.

Had bought this in hope to watch movies on long trips on the display, was super upset. The video plays each video frame with a delay of 1-2 frames. Tried to match the format as required, still no help. The actual carplay is zoomed out, bad quality. Returning back.
