This looks like a very good deal.
From the original listed price: $1,649.99 the open box with excellent condition for $640.99 seems to be excellent deal.

Wondering why there are less votes.

Lpddr5x means non-upgradeable system ram.

If you get this, take a look at the ssd power on hours. My last Best Buy open box was used for like a year. It even smell like someone's house.

Onboard soldered RAM and only 16gb and no distinct GPU. No way it's worth the MSRP in OP.
It's a fair price for the open box price if it were new.
Good device for a typical user. Not worth it for any semi serious power user.

Except for tank-like gaming laptops, virtually every new model laptop has soldered RAM. Been that way for a while. If you're still voting down deals because the RAM is soldered on, time to put up a similar deal with SODIMM you think exists or just accept that's the only way.

Guess I'll go against the grain on this one - assuming you actually receive an "excellent" grade laptop, this is a pretty darn good deal. Especially with memory and component prices today. I shopped these 14" 2-in-1 laptops w/2k+ OLED earlier in the year and IMO this is a "buy now if you were looking for something like this" price. I ultimately went with an HP Omnibook Ultra Flip as opposed to the X, but I'll say the build quality and performance is excellent (also a 16gb machine). Yeah, it's not my primary gaming PC but for general productivity, browsing, Minecraft, Roblox, and especially media consumption... I think this would be a great package for this price!

This laptop is a relatively new model with Panther Lake chip that is from 2026. I doubt you'd get too old of one.

How does one return a laptop after a year to BestBuy?

Do you have a link for a comparable one (e.g., 2K OLED touchscreen, 3-in-1 form factor with a pen, etc.) for $640?

Agreed 100%. If I were in the market for this form factor, I'd seriously consider this. I'm just enjoying my tiny XPS13 Snapdragon X Elite too much.

Not sure - but I can confirm. Bought an 'open box' laptop with warranty registered almost year ago. Device itself looked used. Worn keys, residue in speaker holes. Another unit, allegedly same grade - but a believable open box.
