A mid-tier Sonicare paired with C3 brush head (like the Amazon deal) is my preferred option. The C3 heads are advertised as offering best plaque removal in their lineup, and are a little bit larger than the C2 heads (which come with the Sam's Club set mentioned by another user); the C2 feels a bit on the small side after using the C3.
When choosing a Sonicare brush, the biggest difference I've found is the upgraded vibration pattern offered on the 4100 series and up (avoid the cheaper 1100/2100/3100 series unless you have sensitive teeth). I've never bothered with the whitening or gum modes on the higher end brushes so don't personally put any value into those.

My previous oral b died at 8 months old and m getting that replaced under warranty. The oral b warranty process is a pita but will complete it since I have 2 many brush heads to not use. The $8 one is amazingly good especially with all the brushes.
