CRKT makes some decent EDCs in the $25 - $50 range. The steel on this one is most likely either 8Cr14MoV or 8Cr13MoV - CRKT doesn't list this specific model on their site. The closest models they list are the M16-01S and the M16-01KZ.

My 2 cents: $38 isn't a "Slick Deal" even if it lists as a $50 msrp, but it isn't horrible either. For example, if you prefer a higher tier steel and a lighter, grippier handle, it's not hard to find folders w/ D2 steel and G10 handles from a good company for around $30. Granted, personal preferences outside of specs will also weigh heavily in the decision.

Good Luck!
