This 20 inch Perfect Aire box fan stands out as a strong, low cost fan with sturdier pivoting feet than the usual plastic wedge style and enough power to punch above its price. It has also been used successfully for DIY air filtration with MERV filters, including Corsi Rosenthal box setups, and the claimed 1800ish max CFM suggests it should stay quieter than a shop fan. The main drawbacks are no handle, which makes it awkward to move, and availability issues that can push the total cost way up with shipping. A practical pick if you can find it locally.
Common Questions (4)
It is reported to be surprisingly strong for a cheap box fan and has been used successfully with MERV 5 and MERV 12 filters for makeshift air cleaning. The claimed max CFM is around 1800, so it should be much quieter than a shop fan while still moving a useful amount of air.
The $18.99 price is competitive, but shipping can erase the savings if it is not available for free store pickup. Similar 20" box fans were also cited as being $4-$9 cheaper at Meijer, Walmart, Menards, and Ollies, though another check found none under $21.24 on those sites.
Yes. It has been used as a makeshift air filter by zip-tying 1-inch MERV 5 filters to the back, and another setup used MERV 12 filters to clear odors and germs quickly.
It has big pivoting feet that are described as sturdier than the small plastic wedge-style feet that often break. It does not have a handle, which makes it annoying to move.

I have one of these too. I used merv 12 to clear odors and germs from rooms quickly. worked better than a $600 Rabbit Air 2 purifier.
