The $1,000 "list price" on the Roomba Combo 505X is fake.

This model regularly sells for

$549-$599, and drops to $499 pretty often. So $475 is a solid deal, but not a once-in-a-lifetime price

Judging from the image it looks like they adopted Roborock's whitelable design

I have several Roomba i7+ and j7+ robots that I've kept running with spare parts and a whole lot of TLC -- especially the terribly designed charging tabs that keep oxiding. I wouldn't not even consider a new iRobot machine at this price point let alone with the risk of what the Chinese suppliers inheriting the company from the bankruptcy are going to be able to do with the company. Candidly, I'm surprised they have not made the banned list like other Chinse tech companies have.

I have this machine. One word of caution I will give you is that there is no full bin sensor and no programmable feature to set the bin to empty after so many square feet. It only self-empties at the end of a job. So if you have a heavily shedding dog you have to set the robot to do multiple short jobs instead of or two large ones if you want to prevent the bin from getting plugged up. And those multiple jobs have to be scheduled at least 2 hours apart so it takes a ton of time to actually get your house cleaned.

This is NOT an iRobot. Take a look at a teardown of these. No modular parts like iRobot is known for. When one of your wheels on this thing breaks, there is no replacing it with a new wheel, you are meant to throw out the entire bot.
I wouldn't pay more than $100 for this trash.

Anyone else think it is ironic that Amazon is partnering with iRobot on Prime Day deals post bankruptcy when Amazon pulling out of the deal to buy iRobot bankrupted them?

I agree with you but I thought these were the hail mary models they were trying to get out tthe door to drive revenue prior to the bankruptcy?

My understanding is they just started using cheap products produced by their Chinese parts supplier. None of this bot was designed by irobot. It's essentially a cheap knockoff with the irobot name slapped on it. They did start doing this before they went belly up.

I too have the i7 Plus, and concur with your statement as well.

I was made to understand from a tech reviewer that ever since the bankruptcy, they just white label stuff
