It's not worth it IMO, I regret buying it, it's too under powered and I can't get it outside since it is 400w power hungry at full load. battery does not last lol.

This Helios AI is a high end 16 inch OLED gaming and AI laptop that stands out for its mobile RTX 5090, 32GB of RAM, and 2TB SSD at about $3000. The price looks strong versus other 5090 laptops, and the 24GB VRAM is useful for local AI work like ComfyUI, LM Studio, and video generation. The mobile 5090 is still far behind a desktop 5090, though, with lower power, bandwidth, and performance. Battery life, heat, and weight make it more of a desk bound machine, and the power jack and audio have been called out as weak points. It is a capable portable workstation if desktop class speed is not the goal.
Common Questions (5)
The laptop RTX 5090 is much slower than the desktop card: it has roughly half the CUDA cores, about half the memory bandwidth, and far lower power limits. It is still strong enough for local AI, 4K editing, and 2K gaming, but it will not match desktop 5090 performance.
The 24GB VRAM mobile 5090 can run local AI workloads well, including ComfyUI, LM Studio, and some larger models. For heavier video workflows like LTX video, 64GB system RAM is recommended, and the laptop can still be limited by its mobile power envelope.
Yes. The laptop is described as very power-hungry at full load, with battery life that does not last long, and it is heavy enough that carrying it with the power brick is impractical for many people.
At around $3000, it is considered a decent price for a mobile RTX 5090 because comparable 5090 laptops are often priced well above $3000. A lower-priced alternative mentioned is a 16" Lenovo Legion Pro 7i at $2550.
The DC power jack is a reported weak point, and one owner said it needed repair after a couple of years. Using a laptop pad or stand to support the connector can help reduce stress on the jack.

Because it is no where near the performance of a desktop 5090

google on cuda cores
RTX 5090 Laptop GPU: 10,496 CUDA cores
RTX 5090 Desktop GPU: 21,760 CUDA cores
I think 5070 desktop is just shy of 8000 but it's about the same processing speed as a laptop 5090 people said.
What is on the slow laptop 5090.
That's why desktop 5090 GPU alone is $4000+

Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i for $2550 sounds pretty well

Before you get the wrath.... that laptop you linked is a 5080. not 5090 laptop GPU.
It's alright. I got mine with 64GB for $3200. This is close enough at $2999 with 32GB less. Legion which I think is one of the better laptops for 5090, same 16 size, OLED also. 285HX? I don't remember the exactly intel cpu with so many numbers to remember. lol

I don't recommend laptops at all for GPU use - maybe just games.
But what I have is the Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop. 64GB/5090 laptop gpu. I don't play games on it, you can't bring any of the fast gaming laptop out with you, drains battery, very heavy with the brick! like 7-8 lbs at least I think. I didn't weight it but it felt far heavier than my old 16" MacBook Pro + the brick.
