Bowflex is known a a brand that makes defective products that cause injuries and do not stand by their product. Even if feee this is a rip off. The executives should be hauled to prison to rot

What is laughable and made me wonder if even legal was when I bought a set during covid then a year ago they went on recall about the weights injurring people when falling off while using. The company offered a $20 certificate to use on their website once you ship back your set to return, so basically we paid $400 and they will give us $20 giftcard to spend on their store whicjh is a joke. Bad business practices. Look it up online if you want to know more.

I use mine almost daily (after they were replaced with the recall last year) and have no issues.

I did the recall and got new dumbbells with metal parts. I did take the time to read the whole recall before I sent in my old dumbbells. It clearly outlined that if you bought the dumbbells after 4/15/2024 and had the receipts you'd get new dumbbells or a full refund. If you bought them before that date you would get a pro-rated amount. Sadly that pro-rated amount was only $20 for some people, $60 for others. If I had purchased them before 4/15/2024 I never would have never sent them in without finding out how much the pro-rated amount was. I will agree it would have been better if Johnstone health gave an amount before people sent them in, but nothing illegal was done here.

To those that care the new dumbbell are identical to the old ones just with metal discs now. Having metal instead of plastic that can wear or break should make them less prone to the weights falling out.

Seems like PowerBlock Dumbbells when they are on Woot sale are a better value. Cheaper, expandable, and built like a tank.

The 4-15-24 cutoff is tied to the bankruptcy of the prior owner of Bowflex (Nautilus, Inc) and the new owner (Johnson Health Tech, a Taiwan based firm). The new owner is legally obligated to offer replacement as of when they took ownership of the brand. They get away with screwing customers who purchased the dumbells prior to their purchase of the brand, which is why they are getting away with offering a $20-$60 payoff. It's reasonable to assume that they knew of the issue prior to purchasing the brand...so it's not like the recall came as a surprise to them.

Long story short, this means that the new owner is screwing their past customers...so it's best to avoid that brand altogether for now on. Johnson Health Tech also now owns Schwinn branded products, so I'd avoid those too.

After Bowflex (Nautilus) went bankrupt, Johnson Health purchased their assets. They did not purchase their liabilities or the actual company. Johnson did not make the faulty dumbbells, and also did not profit from the sale of the faulty dumbbells. Why you are holding Johnson Health responsible for Nautilus bad manufacturing is beyond me. I don't see how the new owner is screwing over the past customers, its not their responsibility.

yes its a newer model in the sense that they changed the plastic disc on the handle to metal. Everything else is the same. They do have a new model, the SelecTech 52 which are a slightly longer dumbbell but uniform weight shape.
