This DEWALT shop stool is a sturdy, comfortable rolling seat that works well for garage tasks and workbench use. The adjustable height and casters make it easy to move around while staying off your feet, and the metal mesh shelf can hold magnetic trays for nuts and bolts. The main limitation is that it does not go very low, so it is less useful for wheel or tire cleaning. The backrest hump and four caster layout can also feel awkward on uneven concrete, making it a practical shop seat with a few fit quirks.

Common Questions (4)

  • It does not go down very low, so it may not be comfortable for cleaning wheels or tires while seated. It still works well for detailing tasks where you want to avoid bending over.

  • It is reported to be sturdy and generally comfortable, with several owners recommending it. One caveat is that comfort is personal, and at least one user found it very uncomfortable despite liking the build quality.

  • The wire mesh shelf can hold magnetic trays, which makes it useful for keeping nuts, bolts, and other small parts within reach. A downside is that the open wire shelf is less ideal than a solid shelf for loose sockets and small hardware.

  • It has four casters and can tip when you hit rocks, debris, or cracks in concrete. It still rolls well enough for shop use, but uneven floors can make it feel unstable.

In what way do you believe the Dewalt stool is higher quality than the Jegs, Masterforce, or Northern options that have been suggested as alternatives?
I never claimed that, I didn't understand that that's what you were implying, hence why I made a comment on how your wording may cause confusion. Maybe it's just me and maybe my problem is only with the other commenter as the compared item was not something that I had interpreted as quality. 90% of commenters on this site ask why they should spend $50 on a product when it's like $5 on aliexpress.

I have the Dewalt seat and like it a lot, its comfy and I use it to sit at a worktable. I also had the Masterforce chair. First off, they both have 4 casters so they like to tip when you hit rocks debris cracks in concrete etc. The masterforce base is taller and heavier, with bigger casters. It didnt roll as well, it was more top heavy and liked to try and tip more. FWIW I think the Dewalt is the better chair, I ended up returning the Masterforce one.

Masterforce is Menard's house brand. Same like Husky is homey depot's & Kobalt is Lowes. Vevor don't make nothing. They just pay to slap their license sticker on products.

I have two old Craftsman stationary "bar-stool" type chairs that seem to always be in the way. My benches are 36" will this chair allow me to work comfortably at this height? The stools are a bit too high. - Thanks

I have to admit the only thing I don't like about that is the wire shelf. I have a tendency to want to put sockets and maybe smaller nuts and bolts there and I would prefer a solid shelf. Just my two cents. Otherwise, looks like a deal.
Maybe a thin durable liner cut out to fit the shelf cavity

I have owned this chair for 4 years and am in a love / hate relationship with it. I love that i can adjust heigth and scoot from place to place in the shop while working. BUT....if you buy this...you will absolutely hate that little back rest bull crap thing. Every time you stand up the seat rotates and you go to sit back down and you sit on that stupid backrest hump and the thing almost scoots out from under you. Its friggen irritating.

I like to put the harbor freight magnetic trays on the metal mesh, cause then they can hold small items like nuts bolts.
