The Complete Calvin and Hobbes box set is a hefty collector edition that delivers the full strip run in one place, with strong appeal for rereading, gifting, and passing down. The set is praised for its lasting value, imaginative humor, and the way it bridges generations, and later editions likely have improved binding over the original glued pages. The hardcovers are heavy and not ideal for everyday reading, and the box set is more of a table book than a portable format. At about $89.48 after coupon, it sits near the low end of recent pricing and compares reasonably with buying the individual volumes.
Parents buying a keepsake comic collection, because the stories bridge generations and hold up for years of occasional rereading.
Gift buyers wanting a display-worthy hardcover set, because it looks great and feels like a lasting posterity piece.
Collectors who want the complete library in one box, because the set is convenient and avoids hunting down individual volumes.
Readers who plan to revisit the series at a table, because the hardcover volumes are heavy and less comfortable for casual lap reading.
Shoppers who want the lightest way to own the series, because the hardcover box set is heavier and less manageable than paperback formats.
People wanting an everyday bedside read, because the hardcover volumes are heavy and unwieldy for casual reading.
Families expecting a rugged kids' book, because the hardcovers are not super sturdy even though they can survive occasional use.

90 bucks for this set isn't bad at all. The 7 paperbacks will probably run you more than that even with deals.
Wait a minute...
Watterson is the GOAT. Left on top, his terms, never sold out - no merchandise - save for the few calendars back in the 80/90s he allowed his publisher to produce - still against his wishes. This guy left MILLIONS on the table because to him it wasn't about "that." He's the definition of a mic drop.

By far one of the best parts of growing up was reading these comics every day in the newspaper. Hobbes was 100% real.
Anyways, it's very likely that these are the ones with the updated binding. They fixed them like 10 years ago. I suppose there's always a chance you get someone's old return, or they found an old dusty box of early prints on a shelf somewhere.
