This Skytech 5090 desktop is framed as a high-end gaming rig, but the strongest praise centers on the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5090 pairing. The main value debate is around the included 32GB of DDR5 and 2TB SSD, with repeated comparisons to similar-priced prebuilts that include 64GB and 4TB, or even a 1200W power supply. The 1000W PSU is seen as probably workable, though potentially tight under heavy combined load. Overall, it reads like a premium build whose appeal depends on whether the base configuration is enough.
Common Questions (5)
The build is repeatedly called light on memory and storage for a 5090 desktop. A more comfortable target cited is 64GB to 128GB RAM and 4TB to 8TB SSD, especially if you want more headroom for games, creation work, or large installs.
It is compared unfavorably with other 5090 prebuilts around the same total price that include 64GB RAM, 4TB storage, and sometimes a 1200W Platinum PSU. The Skytech's 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, and 1000W Gold PSU are the main missing upgrades called out.
The HP Omen comparison is stronger on paper because it includes 64GB RAM, 4TB storage, a 9900X3D, and a 1200W Platinum PSU at a similar total price. That makes the Skytech look leaner on memory, storage, and power delivery.
A 1000W supply can be enough if the GPU is run hard but the CPU stays relatively light, since the 5090 is described as being around 600W sustained with possible 700W+ peaks. It may be tight under heavier combined loads, which is why some comparable prebuilts use 1200W units.
The main argument is that the CPU and GPU alone are estimated at roughly $4400, so the full system price is seen as too close to the cost of the core parts. Others argue the price should be much lower and expect component prices to fall further.
