Scrub Daddy BBQ Daddy is a grill brush aimed at easy grate cleaning, and it can work well when kept wet as directed. The brush has been praised for cleaning grills without issues, and the price is notably lower than Costco in some areas. Store pricing and stock vary a lot by location, though, and the design has drawn complaints about a loose, floppy head, a handle that gets in the way, grease buildup, tearing after first use, and possible metal shards. A practical option if your store has it and you are comfortable with the tradeoffs.

  • The brush head can flop back and forth, which can prevent effective scrubbing.

  • The brush can melt, so it needs to be kept wet with cold water.

  • The scrubber can tear after the first use, leading to returns.

  • The scrubber can trap grease and may be hard to clean afterward.

did you dunk it in water beforehand?
yea, got some cold water and soaked it. I have an older Webber Spirit with triangle grates so maybe that is the issue, i see grills have the flat grates now? regardless, the brush head would clean the tops sort of but just flop around, big floppy head couldn't get anything done. it's so bad it makes me wonder if they even tested the product. I've reattached the head to make sure it was on right, tried it 2 more times, holding it in different ways and nothing works. The best move is to get a wire brush once or twice a year, then use a onion or tongs + damp towels to clean the grill after the wire brush scrapping if you are concerned about wires getting stuck in the food or whatever.
