Using doordash on bestbuy will have M5 version for $2899. Considering doordash giftcard is 20% off in costco. It might be a better choice. Just not sure what will happen if you put more than $2000 in doordash credit.

It is funny...but kinda true. In looking at the readily available machines for local AI, right now 128GB(shared) RAM is the cap on single devices, whether MacBook, Strix Halo, Or DGX Spark class (higher spec mac pros can't be bought new until further notice). They are all pretty much $4k minimum.
By the time you add in hefty storage, a top or near top of the line Macbook M5Max on a Microcenter deal is pretty much 128Gb of very fast and high bandwidth memory, a few TB of extremely fast storage, in a "free" macbook body that happens to also be one of the finest (non-gaming) laptops produced to date.

14% faster in single-core, 20% faster in multi-core, and 250% faster ssd do not sound minimal to me.
