InKind One is a restaurant payment credit that works best when there are participating spots you actually want nearby. The strongest upside is the discount, with some finding it cheaper than buying through InKind directly or even cheaper than Uber gift cards, and a few noting useful extras like app offers and cash back on the uncovered portion. The main drawback is coverage, since local favorites can disappear, some places do not honor it, and app ordering can carry higher prices or markups. Tips still come from a card, so it fits best when the restaurant list around you is solid.

  • Diners with a few participating neighborhood restaurants nearby, because the list can include favorite spots and the discount works well when you already want to eat there.

  • City diners in markets with expanding coverage, because the participating restaurant list keeps growing and can still offer plenty of options.

  • People who want to pay for a meal in the app after dining, because checkout is straightforward and can be easy to use at the table.

  • Shoppers using restaurant offers on smaller tabs, because the updated terms can still earn cash back on the uncovered portion and boost savings.

As far as I know, you don't order any food through the inKind app. You just sit down at the restaurant, order, eat, and then when the bill comes you pay using the app instead of handing over your credit card.I think I remember a couple of restaurants that allow you to order online and pay with the inKind app, but it was very few nationwide. I don't know exactly how that works because there were none in my area, so I didn't dig into how it works.

As mentioned by others in the thread, there are a few restaurants that have the POS functionality to order through the app. In my experience, one local pizza place had the same price as walk-up ,and another local burger joint had mark-ups similar to doordash and uber eats. I always check recent menus online, and if it's the latter, I'll place the order in-person.

I hadn't looked in about a year for restaurants that allow to order on the app. I just looked now since it's been mentioned by quite a few people, so I thought maybe they've expanded...I now see a few restaurants in my area, last year there were none at all.

I happen to check menu prices on the one I've eaten at before and would probably go to again and they have the same prices as in person (didn't go all the way through to checkout so not sure if they tack on any fees at the end).

I haven't received any coupons in a while, but from everyone is saying, you can't use coupons/promos they send and pay with these inKind GCs? I just received a $50 off $100 promo and would like to plan ahead on when to use it, would obviously be best to use that instead of the GCs if he bill will be just over $100.

Yeah take advantage of that $50 off $100 promo in your account. You can't use GC balance to pay the remainder, but you still get cash back credit on what's paid with your credit card, which now range from 10 - 25%, depending on the restaurant (it can vary by day of the week too). So the discount is higher than 50%, though the cash back credit has limited usefulness since it also can't be combined with GC.

Just received a $25 off $75 inkind coupon for father's day. Even though I have couple of hundred inkind gift card loaded, I won't be able to use the GC with the coupon, instead, I have to spend another $50 out of pocket. That's probably illegal because GCs are considered legal tender if purchased with cash.

It's groupon 2026! Restaurants leave because it's a bad deal for them. They'll do it if they're struggling, but it is terribly painful in the long term.

YOU can't not stack coupons anymore! But it's still 35% off. Better to do pickup takeout lol
Say you have earned Inkind cash with an expiration . Can that be stacked with the gift card balance or will they only use one?
In other words :
Inkind Cash - $100 (from Costco)
Inkind Cash back $15 expires 8/31 (from paying with credit card on previous meals)

If bill is $50 can I pay $15 from Inkind Cash Back and $35 from Inkind Cash or can I only use my cash back with credit card payments?

Any amount owed in excess of your inKind Cash Back balance has to be paid with credit card. That was true under the old rules as well.

So Inkind Cash Back is useless given the pre-discount on gift card balance, unless you are paying for something close in amount to the amount of cash back

For example, $50 receipt, $14 cash back, about 28% back vs 35% back

Really disappointed one a local bagel place left, that would have been good to redeem cash back

Under the old rules, yeah, IKCB was inferior to IKC (gift cards) in every way. You can't stack it with promo offers AND there was an expiration date. Under the new terms, use the offers (e.g., $25 off $50) when they come around, PLUS you still earn IKCB on the uncovered portion of your bill, leading to savings greater than the 35% from this Costco GC sale. I don't have the patience to accumulate IKCB, so I simply use it to buy a drink or two at the bar or brewery. Other practical usage on small dollar items would be at the coffee shop, tea shop, bakery, etc.

Where the IKCB is still a nice perk is if you can frequently expense meals on a corporate card, getting reimbursed at work while also earning 10% - 25% back. Would add up quickly.
