Community Reviews

Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover is a handy spray for lifting bugs, tar, and tree sap from car paint. It is praised for working quickly and feeling gentle on paint, and it has been kept around as a go to garage staple. The main cautions are to wipe it off by hand instead of letting it dry, since it can leave an oily film or residue. It may also be rough on certain plastics and is not ideal for paint prep.

  • The spray removes tar, tree sap, and bug splatter effectively for garage use.

  • The formula can be gentle on paint while still working on bugs and tar.

  • The product can work well when used as part of a hand-wash routine.

  • The spray can be useful for quick cleanup after returning to bug-heavy areas.

  • The spray can be problematic around certain plastics and may cause damage.

  • The spray may leave a visible film or residue that requires wet and dry wiping.

  • The spray can leave an oily residue and should not be left on the car.

  • The citric-acid based formula can corrode clear coat if it dries on paint.

I don't usually get too many bugs in my car but when I do, I've been using fabric softener sheets since back in day.
This! I just moved back to Florida and forgot all about that trick. It works so well! Thank you! 😀

It leaves a residue that is oily. I wouldn't leave it on a car. I wash it right back off. But it works great but for 14 is to high
You should wipe it off after, never let it dry to your paint. It's citric acid based which is mild but can corrode the clear coat.
