This Mr. Coffee 12 cup programmable maker is mainly a low cost, no frills option for basic daily brewing, with a strong price for a familiar brand. The 2 hour auto shutoff and programmable timer add convenience, and replacement carafes are easy to find if the glass breaks. The main drawbacks are the glass carafe, which can crack from thermal shock or wear over time, and a clock that is hard to read from across the kitchen. It is a simple budget pick that covers the basics without much polish.

  • The glass carafe has a breakage risk over time, even without reports of exploding.

  • The clock display is hard to see from across the kitchen because it is oriented upward.

  • The 2-hour auto shut-off can be inconvenient when brewing timing needs extend beyond two hours.

  • Clock setting can be slightly annoying because minute rollover past :59 jumps the hour.

Just got this a couple months ago. They changed the design slightly, buttons now on bottom. It has a 2 hour auto shutoff which sometimes sucks if your spouse wakes up later than you. Also, just a small annoyance, when setting the clock, if you press the Minute button past :59, it changes the hour, instead of just going back to :00. So then you have to go change the hour again. Slightly annoying if you change your auto brew time during the week. For $20 Id say its worth it but just has a few annoying things. I'll probably look for something in the $50-75 price range next time.

this is a jam up good deal. Go to a General dollar or Family dollar and see that unbranded coffee makers cost more than this deal. If you need a coffeemaker this is a good brand.

If you can't turn this off like a lot of them have it, it isn't a feature, it's a definite reason not to buy.

Been looking into something like this. I assume programmable means you can only set the time of the next brew. Does anyone know if there's a coffee brewer where I can set an automatic brew time for M-F without having to do it every night?
Every night you have to load the coffee and water and remove the old grounds anyways. Just press the button during that time.
