This Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker is prized for consistently excellent rice, especially fluffy white rice, brown rice, and porridge, with very little effort. Long-term use reports are strong, with units still working well after 5, 10, 15, and even 26 years, and the warming function is praised for keeping rice fresh without drying or burning. It also has a retractable power cord, a tune when cooking finishes, and Made in Japan printed on the front. The main hesitation is price, since similar units have sold much lower before and the clock battery can eventually wear out.
Households cooking rice daily, because it keeps producing evenly cooked rice and stays reliable for years of frequent use.
Buyers comparing it to newer premium rice cookers, because this model is described as older and lower-end than induction or domestic Japan alternatives.
Long-term use reports range from about 5 years to 26 years, with many units still cooking perfect rice after a decade or more. The clock battery can die after roughly 5-10 years and may be annoying to replace, but the cooker itself can keep working well.
It is a premium, older lower-end Zojirushi model, but it is repeatedly described as producing perfect rice for years with very little effort. The main practical upside is consistency and warming performance; the main caveat is that similar basic cookers can be far cheaper, and this price has been lower before.
It cooks rice very evenly, keeps it warm without drying it out, and plays a tune when the rice is done. It is also reported to be forgiving if the water level is slightly off, which helps avoid undercooked or overcooked rice.
Yes, it performs particularly well with brown rice and porridge, and it is designed to keep rice warm without burning or drying it out. One caveat is that brown rice can bubble up a lot in the 5.5-cup size, which can make a larger 10-cup model more practical for bigger batches.
Yes, this model has a retractable power cord and "Made in Japan" printed on the front. It also uses a soldered lithium coin-cell battery to keep the clock, which typically wears out after about 5-10 years.

Is this the best Zojirushi? Made in Japan. The one everyone talks about?
Yes it is, although now a days the best ones are the induction models but you can never find them near this price and are usually in the $300 range. This is the best price on Amazon in over a year.

This one has "Made In Japan" printed on the front of the rice cooker, and still has a retractable power cord (seems Zojirushi has moved away from those), awesome!
Gold standard for sure but Zojirushi is one of the few manufacturers that insist on a soldered Lithium Coin Cell battery to keep the time. Not a deal breaker, but just something that wears out after 5-10 years.

Had this since around 2020, love it. Makes perfect rice, we prefer brown and it bubbles up a lot so to make bigger batches we recently upgraded to the 10 cup (even though we only cook 5-6 cups of brown rice).

Mine is still going strong since 2013 with weekly usage. The clock battery is dead and takes too much effort to replace. No big deal for me. What matters is the rice. This thing still cooks perfect rice every time.
