This Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker is prized for consistently excellent rice, especially fluffy white rice, brown rice, and porridge, with very little effort. Long-term use reports are strong, with units still working well after 5, 10, 15, and even 26 years, and the warming function is praised for keeping rice fresh without drying or burning. It also has a retractable power cord, a tune when cooking finishes, and Made in Japan printed on the front. The main hesitation is price, since similar units have sold much lower before and the clock battery can eventually wear out.

I got this for $160 on Amazon just 6 months ago
I think that was a different model - this is the lowest price it's been in at least a year.

Bought this is 2020 at $140 amazon. Still works like bnew today. Cooks 3 cups of rice twice a day for 6 yrs. Its one of those "expensive but worth it" purchases especially for a filipino household that cooks rice like crazy. RIce is always perfectly cook even if you add a little too much or less water. No uneven cooking. So worth it.

What is fuzzy rice?
A fuzzy logic rice cooker is a smart kitchen appliance that uses a built-in microcomputer chip to automatically adjust cooking temperatures and times in real-time. Unlike traditional, basic rice cookers that function on a strict binary "on/off" switch based only on boiling point physics, a fuzzy logic cooker mimics a human chef. It can react to environmental factors like room temperature, water levels, and grain types to deliver perfectly cooked rice every single time. -google

I'm genuinely curious how this differs from my current Instant Pot method. If it's providing a significantly better user experience and end results I'll bite and buy one. I mainly cook Basmati, Jasmine and Wild rice. Wild rice being the biggest pain in the ass to cook (for me). The others are pretty consistent.

I eat rice everyday but don't understand how a $190 rice cooker will be any better than the $40 one I've had for ten years? What am I missing out on?
These rice cookers excel at delivering evenly cooked, consistent rice every time. They also perform particularly well when making brown rice or porridge, making them a versatile option if you prepare those dishes regularly. Their biggest advantage is reliability—it's extremely difficult to end up with undercooked or overcooked rice. In addition, their internal design is optimized to keep rice warm and fresh throughout the day, avoiding the burnt or dried-out results that are common with lower-quality rice cookers.

Love mine. Also received as a wedding gift back in 2011. Use it weekly. Prefect rice, every time. Amazing device.

What is fuzzy rice?
It's what you get when you accidentally leave cooked rice in the cooker for a few days.
