I own this router. It's been a horse for me. No major issues and I run merlin on it. The only issue I had seems to be fixed after I replaced my modem so I can stop blaming the router. Also it works with mesh devices nicely.

Picked this up a few weeks ago at best buy using the 15% recycling deal. About $170 before tax. Been working well for me, using Merlin. Replaced my old T-Mobile AC1900.

Thank OP.

I got Microcenter to price match. I want the brick and mortars to stay in business.

Interestingly, I had the same router saved for later in my Amazon account and if I pull that up it still shows $250. If I search for it, I get the $198 price. So, now I know not to expect deals to show up in my saved for later items - which sort of defeats the purpose.

Lots of cases said devices lost connectivity. Mine's too. I solved this problems by disable wifi6 and use wifi7 only.

Had and returned a year ago, much less reliable than the rest of Asus' lineup.

Got two of these one as access point and both flashed with Merlin. No issues so far and it's been running for 4 months nonstop without issues. The bad reviews seems to be from default firmware and I know Asus has out out newer versions from what is loaded on the router.

I also purchased mine at Best Buy with the 15% recycling coupon off of the sales price. Look for hardware version 6.0 (or higher if any currently exists) below the serial number sticker on the outside of the box (H/W Ver.: 6.0 and MFG Year: 2026). I then uploaded the latest firmware from the ASUS website and then did the router setup manually (don't upload an old setting file) just to be safe.

I no longer recommend this router. Asus made a mind-boggling decision to disable guest/IoT networks and Isolated AP mode.
Now, if you attempt to isolate your smart speakers, thermostat, and other appliances, it.......... blocks your LAN ports from communicating with each other (???). Asus confirmed this is the desired/intended way this works.

So, I don't want my cloud-required thermostat, ceiling fan, etc. to be able to be hacked and the attackers access my NAS... so my... NAS... can't communicate with my TV and over computers via LAN?

It's a truly baffling decision that ASUS has spent almost half a year not fixing.
