This is a compact 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner with a remote, best suited for a bedroom, garage, porch, or other single room where floor space is tight. It can cool a room enough to be livable, and the smaller footprint is a real plus compared with bulkier dual hose units. The main tradeoffs are the single hose design, which is less efficient and can pull in warm air, plus frequent condensate draining and noticeable noise. Fit and reliability concerns also came up, including awkward window installation and reports of units failing after months.

Do we kick backs for saying "SiNgLe HoSe" 87 times in every one of these threads?
Probably. SD is pretty astroturfed, I wouldn't be surprised if big ac manufacturers pay social media marketing companies to post here. I've actually used a single hose portable AC, they do suck (they are loud and they are less powerful for the game BTU rating) but they'll work in a pinch.

Uh, had a roommate who used an unit like this. When he moved out, my floor was soooo damaged.
Um... It's on the outside part that you have to drill the hole. How would it damage your floor? We are talking about the split window Midea units. Not the inside units on sale here.

Looking for a unit to provide an extra cooldown for my bedroom in FL at night. From the comments this is not the one? I like to sleep cold, my bedroom is the warmest in the house. I hate it.

Problem with these portables (even dual hose) is the compressor is still inside the home. Making it less efficient, hot, and noisy. Especially in a bedroom. If you have a window in the bedroom, then look into those U-Shaped inverter window units. Or better yet, a small mini split. In both cases, the condenser is outside, more efficient, less electricity, quieter, and room will get much colder. And also condensate water will drip outside.

Been there, done that in Florida with portables. Even dual hose units struggle to keep the room cool. Put a mini split in, and unbelievable how much better they are compared to portables. Put in a second mini split. I'm thinking to put mini splits in every room and only spot cool as needed. I have two central ac units and electric bill is off the charts from those. Cooling a home that most rooms are empty.

This is a terrible deal when the Midea and the Hisense are right there
The Hisense thermostats go out. Have fun! Mark the end of warranty on your calendar

If it's just one hose and air is coming out of it where do you think the air comes from that comes out of it?

I'll tell you. It comes from the room where the air conditioner is. And where do you think that air comes from? It comes from the outside as the air conditioner sucks air into the room so it can blow air over the condenser and the Freon loses heat and then gets exhausted to the outside
Freon? They still have R-22 in these things?

With portables and window units you don't get a good window seal and outside air gets in regardless of dual hose. All of these units come from china so I paid more for amazon brand so at least I know the warranty will be honored.

I have had both. The single hose units waste energy by blowing out your room's air through the tube. My unit was very loud. They also need to be drained of condensate water often. They are cheap, though. The dual hose units not only have an isolated outside air loop that prevents sucking the air out of the room, they also use the hot air exhaust to evaporate the condensate water so it almost never needs to be drained. They are also relatively quiet compared to single hose units. They're also more expensive.
Single hose units also dump evaporate into the exhaust. That's not a reason to get a dual hose

I have a Toshiba unit that has a single hose but split in half. Half incoming cool air, half outgoing. Anyone have an opinion on that setup? Probably not better than dual hose but better than single?

Those giant dual hose exhausts are pretty ugly and block half my window.

I don't know anything about portable A/C's. Even though this is a single hose, will it work in a garage for just a couple of hours every other day. Would it help if I opened the garage door a little and put the hose outside?

*Why did I get a thumbs down vote for asking a question?
NO. These are garbage.
Especially if you live in a warm climate.
negative pressure sucks in all the HOT humid air from all the the gaps.

also 65 dB (standard) loud as heck.

I have an attached garage with new insulated impact rated doors.
It's easier and faster to open my house door for 5 minutes
instead of running a noisy crappy unit like this for several hours.

I tried it and was absolutely horrible.
Gave it to my neighbor and WARNED him how bad. he tried it and agreed.
