This restored Midea Duo portable air conditioner is valued for strong cooling, dual hose efficiency, inverter operation, and the ability to handle large rooms without breaker trips. Several units arrived looking new and worked well for months, with some cooling quickly and running quietly enough to be tolerable. The main drawback is inconsistent refurb quality, with reports of missing adapters, remotes, wheels, dirty hoses, error codes, and even full water buckets on arrival. Warranty and returns also appear limited, so the savings come with real condition and support risk.

I got this maybe 5 weeks ago to replace the Midea Ushape I had because HOA sucks. Had an 8000 BTU window unit working great and had to replace with this.

This uses about 2-2.5x as many watts to cool the same space as the window unit.

Mine was missing the horizontal window kit and the power cord wrap. Fortunately, I didn't need the horizontal kit. If you do, I wouldn't recommend trying your luck with this.

It's not as quiet as our window unit, but it's fine. I just hate spending more on electric so our house is uniform with the other houses.

I bought two of these and lost the dice roll both times. Both units were missing the window attachment for horizontally sliding windows. Customer service from Midea didn't help and said to return it. Returns at Walmart were easy, but require you to bring it into a store. Sounds like some people got lucky, but it's a hassle if you don't.
Not sure why they're allowed to market these as "Like New" condition and claim that all accessories are included when the QC is as poor as it is.
Did Walmart in-store returns give you trouble? Once the Walmart website told me to take my return in-store, even had something for the store to scan. But the store clerk scanned it and said I have to return it via UPS, they can't take it in-store. I had to get on Walmart chat online to get to explain all this, and they were able to send me a return shipping label.

I had no issue returning in store. I showed the code to the associate, they scanned it, they opened the box and glanced at things, and then I got a notification that my return was complete.

Anybody else missing the adapter for a horizontal sliding window from the last slickdeal? (horizontal AC hose to vertical AC slot).
Got mine in today. It is missing from mine. My remote is also not the same as pictured; it is a smaller older looking version. Unit had a scuff mark on side from shipping but otherwise looks news. Filter was clean too.

Mine came in today. Seems to have most of the parts it is supposed to. My remote is not the same as pictured; it appears to be an older, smaller version. Decent scuff/scratche on one side of unit from shipping. Box was in moderately bad shape too. Unit otherwise seems to look new. Filter is clean, no visible signs of mold. Have been using for ~4-5 hours so far. It is definitely louder than the 10k and 12k Midea U units I have used before but is still tolerable. No issues otherwise so far. Purchased for my office as the heat from my PC along with having a west facing exterior wall make it warm in the afternoons. It will be nice to have this around for power outages too during Hurricane season here in Houston. According to label on unit, it is rated for 13.8 amps at 115 VAC. That comes out to 1587 watts. Since this is an inverter unit with a variable speed compressor, you won't have to contend with the locked rotor amperage spikes that occur with conventional AC units when they start up. This will allow you run this unit on some of the more budget oriented generators/inverters out there..saving you even more $!

The problem with a lot of these portable or window AC is molding. Anyone have any experience with molding with this particular unit? Is it easy to clean to prevent molding?

I offered 210 on ebay direct from midea since it comes with a 2 year warranty and they accepted it. Felt like rolling the dice and seeing how the inverter works since all three of mine are just regular.

Just received my unit from Walmart today. It looked new but came in a refurbished box. It didn't blow cold air and was flashing a P1 error. Turned out the water bucket was full. It worked great as soon as we emptied the water. I'm happy about the price but was taken back by the water issue. I'm surprised it didn't spill all over the box while shipping.
OMG it came with the water bucket totally full? This would imply their refurb process is 100% sketch! We have a new 14,000 BTU Midea that we had to buy full price from Home Depot due to an emergency (grrrrrrr). It would not drain properly until we put it at a slight tilt backward. It worked great after that.

It doesn't look like Midea has a good reputation with these. Here are all the negative reviews from Ebay buyers:

https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/mweb_pr...deaamerica

I've never heard of a seller deciding not to include something that is advertised as included because it is on backorder. They were just expecting people not to notice or care?

"The sliding window adapter (front and rear), air divider, and window kit brace listed in the manual were missing when I received the product. The seller informed me that these parts are out of stock until September 15, 2026. Their only options were to return the unit or buy the parts myself. Because the unit is heavy, the packaging has been discarded, and the product arrived damaged, a return is impractical. The seller also refused to reimburse the cost of the missing parts."

I got this unit off the April deal. It has been running (off an AC200L and solar) for the last month without an issue. Blows some coooold air. When I did receive the unit, i was missing the sliding window accessory. I put in a claim on the website and within a week I had my replacement. As others have noted, the QC is terrible. When I was first missing a part, I initiated a return. I was told to return directly to walmart, not ship it back. Overall, great deal!!!!
EDIT: Power usage: 250 watts running, 1.2 w on startup, 800 w for the majority of cooing cycles.

Costco sells these for $400 new. Yes, it's more $$ but can't beat that lifetime return policy. I bought 2 (I'm a renter, house has no AC) and they work GREAT. WAY too much BTU for a bedroom though, I would go with a much smaller unit. One of these in a bedroom on high (doors open) keeps my entire 4br upstairs at comfortable temps if I start running it before the house starts heating up.
Costco has a 90 day return policy on electronic items.
