I use this Switchbot Lock (and older model) and I'm super happy with it, if people want an alternative with a MiniHub for about the same price. A little bulkier/more of a footprint though

I have the August smart lock version of this, generations 1 through 3. The latest version finally uses a decent battery type. However, in order for me to get the proclaimed battery life out of these things I have to really dumb them down. this means turning off most features like wi-fi, smart locking, smart unlocking etc. while the technology is great, the always on polling that they have to do to work with your smart assistant(s) and unlock upon arrival kills my very expensive Lithium cells (123) about every six weeks. After turning off nearly all features and just using them on bluetooth (works with homekit and alexa on blutooth) I get about 9 months of battery life. But that does cut out all of the features. So, now that you know that this will require a battery subscription, is it still worth it?
