Yes this can be used for 3D printer plates... I buy the amazon basics in bulk for that.. but these will work too I think the amazons are about .25-30 cents apiece in bulk

Just got these - I don't pay attention to actual sizes - but man these are small. I had thought they were the larger sized elmer glue sticks. You actually buy this size - 6grams? For a large printer bed these seem too tiny.

Yes, good to have for prints when your plate isn't bonding the filament well.

But for small footprint or taller prints I use painters tape (namely Frog Tape). It sticks really well to PETG, PLA and really hard to ABS. The paper part that is stuck to ABS washes off in a cinch with rubbing alcohol. It helps (within reason) corners from warping on ABS prints.
