This 10.1 inch Pastigio digital photo frame stands out as a low cost Android touchscreen for basic photo display and tinkering. The promo code has brought the price down to $29.99 with free shipping, and the discount appears to apply per item. It can run locally with local storage or a segmented network, and that makes it appealing for Home Assistant or kiosk style experiments. The main drawback is the locked down firmware, with reports of no ADB connection and no APK sideloading, so advanced installs and internet connected use raise privacy and security concerns.

Common Questions (4)

  • It runs Android, but the firmware is locked down and ADB/sideloading may not work, so advanced app installs can be blocked. One comment says Home Assistant may be possible, while another says the device cannot be rooted or used for Synology Photos or similar integrations.

  • Add promo code CTW2J2LA in the cart at checkout, under or near the payment method. The code brings the Prime price from $59.99 to $29.99 with free shipping, and you may need to be logged in for it to apply.

  • Yes, it can be run locally with photos from local storage, and it can be placed on a no-internet VLAN or segmented network. That avoids relying on the vendor app or exposing the device to the internet.

  • Yes, the discount appears to apply per item. Increasing the quantity from 1 to 2 increased the discount from about $30 to $59.99, then the order was reduced back to one frame.

No this cannot run synology photos be rooted run home assistant or anything like that. It runs android but it's stripped down nothing else can be run on it and there's no known exploit to root it.

Great deal for the hackers - get people to pay $30 and they get to hijack your internet connection. Unless you have a segmented network or plan to not connect to WiFi this is not a good deal

Lots of things - they can attempt to hack into any devices/computers on your network, or use you internet connection for criminal purposes. Just watch the video.

Anything can be setup locally, in fact this frame can run locally. You could just use local storage to show photos.

Or if you have a segmented network you can block the frame from internet and local access.

I actually bought this and will test out to see if I can install software to run my self hosted photo slideshow. But running this locally without using local storage requires some technical knowledge which the vast majority of people do not have. Therefore I would never recommend this to my friends or family unless you hate them and hope their personal and financial information gets hacked and their internet connection is used for criminal purposes.
