The SoloCam S340 stands out as a solar powered outdoor camera with fast connections, smooth playback, and useful pan and tilt tracking for supplemental coverage without running power. The app supports deleting clips and formatting the SD card, and tracking can be turned off. It records clips rather than full continuous video, does not support ONVIF, and RTSP can go to sleep when used with other apps. Winter charging may still be needed, especially in cold weather or with tree cover.
Common Questions (5)
It can track 360 degrees, but it does not truly provide full corner-to-corner coverage while idle. Mounted on a corner, it may return to its default position and angle down instead of continuously watching both sides, so it may miss the walkway/front-door path unless positioned carefully.
Solar charging can still require a manual recharge during winter, especially in cold climates or with tree cover. Even with good sun exposure, the battery may need topping up at least once because cold weather reduces battery performance.
Yes, tracking can be turned off. When idle, it stays at one position instead of constantly panning and tilting.
It records clips, not full continuous video. If you need continuous recording, this model is not the right fit.
No ONVIF support is available, and RTSP can go to sleep even on direct USB power. That means third-party apps like HomeAssistant or tinyCam may need frequent wake-ups to keep the stream usable.
