PS VR2 is a strong-value headset for PS5 and PCVR, with OLED screens, vivid colors, and standout games like Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil 4 and 8, and Hitman. The bundle price around $299 is described as solid for the hardware, especially if you want a wired headset that can also work on PC with an adapter. The main drawbacks are motion sickness, headaches, and a very small sweet spot that can make fit and lens placement finicky. The PS5 library is also narrower than Quest or PC, so it fits best if you will actually use it regularly.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can, especially at first: some people get nausea or an odd headache after about 20-30 minutes, and sessions may be limited to about 45-60 minutes early on. Regular use, shorter ramp-up sessions, and a fan can help many people adapt.

  • At $299 it is considered a strong hardware price, especially for PS5 and PCVR use, but the value depends on how much you'll actually play it. The main drawbacks are the wired setup, a smaller PS5 library, and the chance it becomes a novelty item if you have limited game time.

  • It has a large VR library overall, but the PS5 side is limited by support and not every major VR title is available there. That means it can feel great for specific games like GT7, RE4/8, and Hitman, yet still leave some buyers wanting more.

  • Yes, it can be used on both PS5 and PC with an adapter. PC use typically needs a solid graphics card and more technical setup, while PS5 use is straightforward.

  • You can wear glasses with it, but they can scratch the VR lenses and may slightly reduce field of view because the headset sits farther from your eyes. Prescription lens inserts are available for about $40-$50 and avoid that problem.

I use this on the PC, and it's great. You do probably want some technical knowledge. I personally like it a lot, especially because its OLED, but some people don't like effect that the lenses create. You also need a pretty decent PC specs wise.

The other thing is, you really need a Globular Cluster (which makes the headset sit much better) because the PSVR2 has a VERY small sweet spot. It's finicky enough that I think a lot of people who didn't like the PSVR2 just didn't have the equipment to stay in the sweet spot. But that's additional money as well.

idk- it's a tough one. I recommend the PSVR2 on PC for the right person, but it's not for everybody and I wouldn't just blindly buy it unless you were willing to put in the effort troubleshooting and getting a globular cluster to make it workable in the sweet spot.

If you want this you're better off getting one on marketplace. I've seen them frequently at 200 on there which means you can negotiate it down to 175-180

What globular cluster do you use?

I've considered getting a used one from marketplace/offerup etc. many people probably disagree with me but I feel the same way about a controller, I'll only buy new. This has earbuds , I don't want to stick someone else earbuds in my ears, while playing you sneeze cough , scratch your butt etc etc I don't want to put that on my face or hands. Sealed box I don't see many for sale I've looked prior , even if you did find a sealed box it's still 50/50 it was tampered with. Ive considered buying this more than once , someone else in here mentioned it's a novelty item if you don't have a ton of time to invest it will collect dust if you can't play it full time and I kind of agree . I'd like one but I don't think I have the time for it.

What is the deal with this thing. I been looking at it a while back and forth, read the reviews and comments. Some people say it sucks, others say it's better on a PC , some say it's outdated. Some say it gives headaches and dizziness I'd like to try one, I'm not a PC user I do own a ps5 , I've heard gt7 is awesome on it, I've noticed hitman also has provisions for this. Is it worth it?
Most people will get motion sick at the beginning, and then at some point after using it regularly it goes away (for most people), to the point where using it for hours is usually fine. There are also conditions that make the motion sickness worse, such as being hot, and hence stuff that can help a lot like having a fan blowing on you (in my case the room ceiling fan does the job perfectly fine). I loved my PSVR1 the second I tried it and the PSVR2 was even better (in particular the more modern controllers).
I am getting headaches if I tighten it too much so there's a balance to find between it being snug and it crushing your head (also 1/ there are mods to make it more comfortable and 2/ apparently humans have very different head shapes that result in people having more or less issues with it). So it can happen but it shouldn't be "normal" and should be fixable.
GT7 is amazing (most in-vehicle are just perfect for VR in general). There is just no comparison with playing a racing game flat. The 3 Hitman games are fully playable in VR and it's great. RE4 and 8 are also in VR and it's game changer for me.
The headset has some drawbacks (like the lenses that are inferior to Quest 3 but are here for a reason, i.e. OLED screens that offer better colors and much better blacks), much like any VR headset (or any other consumer electronics because you usually can't have it all). But anybody who says it's outdated or that it sucks is an idiot. I think the biggest objective/fair criticism for some people are the wire (doesn't matter to me but definitely an added constraint to some type of very active gameplay) and a more limited library than some other platforms (I think mostly PC because for me Quest 3 is also largely a "different" library/approach, i.e. I wouldn't trade the Quest library for PSVR2's).
I think at $300 it's very worthwhile if you are OK with it not being using all the time (which very few people do I'd think).

You can technically wear it with glasses but your take the chance of your glasses scratching the VR lenses. Also it wont sit as close as it could near your eyes so it will decrease (slightly) your filed of view. Several online companies sell insert for the headset for about $50. You enter your prescription numbers and they custom make the lens inserts.

They sell prescription vr lenses for like 40 bucks I bought them for mu son so he didn't have to wear glasses. Some people the headset will just bother them regardless though.

Has oled displays which are great, but fresnel lenses which aren't. Fresnel lenses require a very specific pd adjustment and has a very small margin of error to get the placement right to get a clear picture. Even then, the edges of your FOV can still be blurry.

If you've tried a meta quest 3 vs. 3s you can notice immediately the limitations of fresnal lenses. The blurred edges and constant adjustments needed of the 3s fresnel lenses were immersion breaking for me to the point that it wasn't enjoyable and sold it, but I don't have that issue with the quest 3's pancake lenses. Some people aren't bothered by fresnel lenses, so those folks love the psvr2's oled displays. For me, it's a no go with the current lenses even if the headset's display's are top notch.

I used oculus with glasses and it works great. I am sure psvr has very similar type of adjustment and spacer options to get. I love quest oculus but I hate the lack of content and price of games.

I feel the same. I keep seeing mixed reviews and I'm mildly interested. This won't ever hit the price point I feel comfortable with. I wouldn't use it often, it would be a once or twice a year thing so I'd pay maybe $150 for it. $400 seems insane and $300 is still twice what it's worth for my own uses.

I bought one of these for shade over 116 dollars at my local bargain hunt. You definitely have to have a lot of space to move around and support is kinda meh. The demos that I played did look incredible though.

What I did with the first PSVR was wait until I got it brand new for something like $225 tax free, shipped free, came with 2 free games, played the hell out of it for around 1 year (20-30 games) and then I sold it by itself for around $250 on Facebook market place. The only bad thing was that most of the VR games were digital only so I couldn't resell those. Also, I get very motion sick so it super sucks when I'd buy a game from Sony, try it for literally 2-3 minutes and never play it again and can't get a refund. That being said, VR is really cool and everyone should experience it at least once.

Personally, the game library just isn't there to justify purchasing this.

There are some great games but the majority of people will fins this collecting dust more than finding use after those few games.
