For projectors, I look for a few key specifications:
ANSI Lumens. For a home projector, you want 2000+ ANSI Lumens for a home theater setup. If you can control the light levels inside a room, as low as 500 ANSI Lumens are workable, but you'll probably want to project to a smaller screen size. Any projector under 500 ANSI Lumens is too hard to maintain contrast.
Native Resolution - ignore "supports xxxx" resolutions.
Fan Noise. 35 dB is what I consider an upper limit for fan noise. Certain projectors from 1 country in Asia have sold projectors with 65dB fan noise. dB is an logarithmic scale, so beware.
Keystone support capabilities and limitations. This determines where it can be placed and how off-center it will work. Automatic keystone correction is really nice.
Throw distance. There are calculators on nearly all projector buying sites for this. You want where you place the projector from the screen to be as close as possible, though some fine tuning using built-in zoom is possible.
If a projector doesn't specifically have ANSI Lumens, beware. They often use made up terms that aren't standard and meant to mislead. "6000 Lux" is meaningless.
Claims of their new model being "50% quieter" aren't useful. Logarithmic scaled dBs means that 50% isn't very significant. It isn't the difference between 60 dB and 30 dB. It is 60db to 57dB. 40dB is pretty loud.
Cost of replacement lamp bulbs. Some projectors use $250 lamps and others use $68 lamps. If you $250 lamp lasted 3x longer, it could make sense, but lamp life is typically 5000-8000 hours. That's 5+ yrs of use for most typical homes. Some projectors don't have replacement lamps at all. They claim to last 20,000-40,000 hours. I owned an Optoma ML550 like that. Got about 30K hours from it before the lighting failed. It was a bit noisy, so my next projector was much better at fan noise. 28 dB in eco mode. Also eco mode can double lamp life. eco mode is how I use my projector all the time.
I never want a projector that needs any network connection to work. Let me plug in an HDMI video cable and press play. I don't want AndroidTV or any "apps" built into the projector, since projectors are notorious for never getting firmware upgrades. The last thing I want on my LAN is a device that can't be patched for problems, especially security problems. Projectors last a long time 10+ yrs, so getting security fixes if they are networked is critical. Best to use any other device to get streamed stuff off the internet. Keep your projector dumb.
Other Anker Nebula projectors have been well reviews for specific uses.
