it might be a regional thing. Only some inventory and stores or outlets will do shipping for open box itmes.

Not too sure. They all compete in the similar space/price points. I think JBL wins on the woofer/bass but it has the detachable rears that need charging. I haven't looked into the Bose 900 system much. I'd pick up whatever system is the cheapest as they're all really good.
